BANQUET MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY: The position will report to the Director of Food and Beverage to ensure the banquet operations can meet the demands of the clients successfully. Primarily responsible for the supervision of the banquet staff and coordinates all Food and Beverage during the event. Train the banquet team and also oversees the enforcement of hotel standards on setting up the banquet hall, up keeping, service, break away, event courses, and cleaning. He / She should maintain and develop the highest level of guest relations. In absence of the Director of Food and Beverage, manage all guest requests, complaints and queries and ensure that all aspects are communicated to the respective departments (Sales, Kitchen, Director of Food and Beverage (HOD), etc.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Meet and greet guests in a friendly and warm manner. * Assist in training of staff on food safety, proper lifting and placing of trays, and other safety topics.
- Work with Director of Food and Beverage to supervise clearing and post function cleanup. Making sure that function rooms, aisle and storage areas are clean, and equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
- Arrives prior to staff to check all supplies for the events are present. Post event gathers all of guest’s items and hands it off to the host.
- Completes the post event report and email the report to Director of Food and Beverage, Director of Food and Beverage, Assistant General Manager, General Manager, Front Desk Manager, Executive Chef, and Sales. o If transitioning between managers, insure to information is communicated with the next team member prior to leaving.
- Work with Director of Food and Beverage to supervise the handling, storage, and security of all equipment.
- Work with Director of Food and Beverage to direct Banquet Set Up to ensure accurate set-up and cleanliness of function rooms.
- Have knowledge of all areas of catering, food, beverage, coffee breaks, and convention set-up.
- Review BEO with Director of Food and Beverage and maintain communication throughout the function.
- Checks banquet rooms, service, and kitchen areas for cleanliness, proper set up, and make sure sufficient supplies and equipment are available for the function. * Ability to respond quickly and accurately to guest requests.
- Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certification for example liquor licenses etc.
- Display good customer relation skills and take initiative to greet guests in a friendly manner.
- Plan the event course and orchestrates its completion in a timely, quiet and courteous manner.
- Observe guests to fulfill any additional requests, to perceive when next course should begin, or when meal is completed. * Adhering to all banquet standard process and also hotel standard policies and procedures.
- Assist the Director of Food and Beverage in supervising and training staff in the set up and break down of assigned banquet rooms according to contract and managers instructions. And in service of Food and Beverages according to standards.
- Assist in conducting pre-shift and pre-function meetings.
- Work with Director of Food and Beverage in creating Banquet Staff and Housemen Assignment Sheet, Linen Orders, and updating Booking Checks with consumption.
- Actively participates in set up of banquet rooms and service of Food and Beverage to guests.
- Display awareness and compliance with hotels security, safety, and emergency and energy procedures.
- Ensure high grooming and hygiene standards are met by all banquet staff.
- Monitors the profitability of functions to ensure quality while minimizing waste and broken or lost supplies.
- Assists the Food and Beverage Manager to establish maintenance, repair, and cleaning schedules for all banquet equipment and facilities.
- Ability to take and pass all training provided and required by the banquet department to complete daily operational duties.
- Involves the Director of Food and Beverage in situations that require disciplinary action
- Proficiency in the following software required; MS Word, Excel * Performs other duties as assigned by management
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree is in hospitality or food industry is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred. * Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit as required by local or state government agency.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in banquet/event servicing roles in hospitality and/or equivalent work experience.
Physical Demands:
- Long hours sometimes required, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
- Medium Work -Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand for long hours at a time, sometimes for entire shift.
