JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Maintenance Engineer I REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

GENERAL PURPOSE
Maintain the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and consistency keep updated records on file. Respond to all guest requests in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the Guest Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program.
Respond or perform duties of a groundskeeper, handle and double check guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
Maintain proper records of the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and the Second Request Program.
Complete work order request forms on a daily and timely basis.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel - limited, local travel required to parts store.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm
SUPERVISORY DUTIES - None
Education/Formal Training
High school diploma, technical/vocational school preferred.
Experience
Hotel experience preferred, but not required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
General knowledge of technical fields such as carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.
Knowledge of residential building trade repairs:
sheet rock patch/repairs
painting
furniture scratch repair and touch-up finishes,
staining touch-ups
Light plumbing:
Faucet washers and toilet flush valve repairs
electrical repairs:
light switch and outlet replacement
Requires excellent communication skills, a professional presentation, an ability to work in a team atmosphere and to make independent decisions.
Skills
Excellent hearing required due to hazardous nature of working with mechanical equipment.
Excellent vision required due to hazardous nature of working with mechanical equipment.
Moderate speech communication skills necessary to communicate with guests, employees, etc.
Moderate comprehension and literacy required to read logbooks, maintenance requests.
Physical Abilities
Depends on project. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
Bending/kneeling - depends on project; approximately 30%.
Mobility - due to need to be throughout hotel on a regular basis, mobility is a must.
Continuous standing - varies with project.
Climbing stairs and ladders - approximately 20% of day; depends on project.
Driving of hotel vehicle required for picking up materials.
Material/Equipment Used
Chemicals/Agents used: Come into contact with various chemicals 2-3 times per week. (Regular chemicals: solvents, adhesives, paints).
Protective clothing - gloves worn approximately 70% of day.
Equipment - hand tools, power tools and lifts and scaffolds.
Environment
Work inside 80% of week.
