Kennel Assistant
Duties:
- Provide daily care and support for animals in the kennel
- Clean and sanitize kennel areas, including cages, runs, and common areas
- Feed and water animals according to their specific dietary needs
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
- Walk dogs and provide exercise and socialization opportunities
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medications, and treatments
- Assist with the intake and discharge of animals, ensuring proper documentation is completed
Skills:
- Kennel or Veterinary assistant experience preferred
- Knowledge of animal care practices and procedures
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and effectively
- Strong communication skills to provide excellent customer service to pet owners
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic computer skills for record keeping purposes
