Job Summary
The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality branding products. This role involves ensuring print jobs meet customer specifications, maintaining press efficiency, and adhering to company quality and safety standards. The operator will collaborate with the production team to meet daily goals and maintain smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
Press Operation:
- Set up and adjust flexographic presses according to job specifications, including ink, plates, and substrates.
- Monitor press operations during production to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform color matching, registration alignment, and tension control adjustments as needed.
Production Management:
- Interpret and follow job tickets, ensuring accurate materials and specifications are used.
- Maintain press speed and efficiency while minimizing waste.
- Record production data and report any issues to the Print Supervisor.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct routine quality checks to ensure printed materials meet customer and company standards.
- Identify and resolve issues such as color inconsistencies, print defects, or substrate problems.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on the press to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, or operational issues.
- Keep press and work area clean and organized.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and materials.
- Follow company policies and procedures for environmental and workplace safety.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience operating flexographic presses preferred.
- Knowledge of various substrates, inks, and printing techniques is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels, temperatures, and chemicals.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to printing equipment.
