Description
The Dougherty County Juvenile Court is hiring for an Associate Judge. Works with local school systems, district attorney's offices, public defender's offices, mental health providers and stakeholders in the community to provide the services, supervision, resources and representation as required by statute.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential Tasks
Essential Tasks:
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Conducts hearings as assigned by the Juvenile Court Judge.
- Participates in National, State and Local organizations and events.
- Speak and makes presentations to community organizations and schools as a representative of the Juvenile Court.
- Completes the departmental annual budget and grants.
- Serves in the absence of the Juvenile Court Judge.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate.
- Five (5) years of legal experience.
- The Associate Judge shall participate in yearly training as set out in O. C. G. A. 15- 11- 21.
- The Associate Judge shall not engage in any practice of law, in any Juvenile Court pursuant to O. C. G. A. 15- 11- 18(g).

Special Certifications And Licenses:
- Must be at least thirty (30) years of age and a citizen of George for at least three (3) years.
- Must be a member of the State Bar of Georgia in good standing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
