Description: The Dougherty County Public Works department is hiring for an Environmental Control Technician. The purpose of this position is to dispense mosquito control sprayings, operating Data Logger, downloading computer information, generating reports, procuring supplies and equipment, and keeping inventory of chemicals.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Tasks
Essential Tasks:
- Dispenses and records mosquito control sprayings.
- Operates Data Logger to record date, time, temperature, wind, route, and chemicals; downloads information to office computer to generate reports.
- Makes calls in valleys and low-lying areas of county to perform larvicide of mosquitoes by treating water to prevent breeding.
- Investigates complaints and requests for mosquito control.
- Maintains truck, spraying supplies and equipment, monitoring equipment for leaks, and delivering equipment for repair.
- Keeps inventory of chemicals used and needed.
- Assists crews with mowing as necessary.
- Operates, maintains, and repairs ULV machine including cleaning filters, calibrating, and installing parts.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience dispensing herbicide and pesticide chemicals or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
