What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Technician II position at Dougherty County?
The Dougherty County Jail is hiring for a Facilities Technician II. The purpose of this position is to perform the duties of a plumber, an electrician and/or to repair, remodel, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment for assigned buildings.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
• Performs general maintenance/construction on inmate pods, painting, pressure washing, grinding, repairing steel doors and frames, and construct temporary walls.
• Performs HVAC maintenance on rooftop units, clean coils, replaces belts, replaces motors, pulleys, belts, wire motors, change fuses.
• Performs maintenance/installation in all area of plumbing including, unstop toilets, sinks, main drains, repairs and replaces broken toilets, installs stainless steel toilets, solders copper fittings, removes and installs pumps, pours and finishes concrete.
• Evaluates, diagnosis and repairs electrical issues with low/high voltage consisting of lighting, drivers, starters, variable speed drive units, relays, pumps, motors and transformers.
• Performs installation, repairs as needed on high security locks for cells, including security slider doors. Repairs, rebuilds or replaces as necessary.
• Performs required daily kitchen equipment checklist to include steam kettles, stack ovens, deep fryers, steam convection oven, tilt skillets, griddles, mixers, chopper and meat slicer, coolers and warmers, walk-in freezers and coolers, ice machine and other equipment.
• Responds to emergency calls and after hours.
• Performs related work as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in extensive building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Physical Demands: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Performs heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

• Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
