What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Empowerment Internship Program position at Dougherty County?
The Dougherty County Board of Commissioners is sponsoring a Summer Empowerment/Internship ProgramThis internship will provide interns with opportunities to perform entry-level tasks with adequate training in various County departments. Interns will be responsible for, but not limited to greeting office visitors, answering phones, and performing office functions using computers, computer software, copiers, scanners, assistance/training on operating various types of equipment, etc. There are fifteen (15) internship slots available. The summer program will offer active engagement from the following County departments: Human Resources, Sheriff’s Office, Facilities Management, County Police, Library, Tax & Tag, Registrations & Elections, Disaster Recovery, and Public Works (Parks & Maintenance Divisions).Prospective participants must be residents of Dougherty County, 2025 high school graduates or upcoming seniors, a college, university, or Turner Job Corps student. Must be a United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States. Seeking students interested in gaining work experience in local government and or seeking a degree in the following programs of study: Business Administration, Political Science, Business Management, Public Administration, or related fields. Currently earned a grade point average of 2.5 or better.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants who have previously completed the Summer Enrichment Internship Program and demonstrated successful performance may be granted additional consideration during the selection process.THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTING DOCUMENT ARE REQUIRED: Proof of DCSS high school graduation, DCSS high school, college/university or TJCC enrollment, proof of GPA, and a valid Georgia Identification Card or Drivers’ License.
