Description :
The Pool Manager is responsible for the operations of a single multi guard facility for the swim season. They handle day-to-day management tasks associated with the pool that includes maintenance, staff scheduling, event coordination, and direct client relations. They are also involved with pre-season opening duties. They must meet specific criteria and guidelines to ensure proper operation of the facility.
Chain of Command : The pool manager will report directly to the zone supervisor and our customers.
Scope : The basic function of the pool manager is to provide the necessary coordination to control the day-to-day operations of his / her pool in a manner that will ensure client satisfaction resulting in a clean, safe, family environment.
Prerequisites :
- Three - Four years of lifeguarding experience
- Minimum of 1 year working as an assistant manager
- Minimum 18 years of age or at coordinator’s discretion
Physical Demands :
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be able to manipulate all maintenance equipment for the swimming facilityMust also be able to physically execute all swimming and rescue skills learned during trainingMust have good vision and hearing, if otherwise, corrective lenses and hearing devices are required.Authority :
Take action and make decisions necessary to ensure effective pool operations and safety of the staff and patrons, provided that such actions shall not compromise nor conflict with the policies and procedures outlined in this manual and by Douglas Aquatics.Recruit, train and terminate any subordinate personnel with prior approval from your Coordinator.Stop any process or activity that is unsafe or represents a safety hazard until the condition is corrected.Good Performance : Good performance is judged by the following criteria :

Have good language skills so you may communicate with your staff and the clients / patronsHave good working knowledge of the pool system / s and pool chemicalsPossess reasoning ability so you may collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. You must be able to use good judgment in everyday situationsBe certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalentMust be able to supervise, teach and guide staff by exampleTrain and mentor assistant managersTake responsibility of the facility you manage and it’s staffMaintain a safe, clean, family swimming environmentMust have reliable transportation to your facilityAttend all manager meetings or ensure that adequate representation is present from your facility, if you cannot attendSchedule and conduct staff meetings and in-services at your facilityResponsible for scheduling all employees at your facility and assisting team leaders with filling open shiftsEnsure all reports and necessary documentation is completedSchedule swim lessons for pool. If no instructor is available, manager must teachDesignate the lifeguard of the pay period awardSchedule the appropriate number of staff members for required labor hours for your facilityPrepare and process payroll for pool facilities. Audit for rain days, overtime, and compare hours worked to schedulesComplete Weekly Facility Inventory reportsAll other tasks as assigned
