Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to individuals facing various challenges, particularly in the realms of behavioral health and addiction. This position requires a strong commitment to helping others, utilizing skills in crisis management, motivational interviewing, and counseling to foster positive outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and guidance to clients dealing with behavioral health issues, including addiction and mental health challenges.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and management to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients in their recovery journey.
  • Mentor clients by participating in individualized support plans tailored to their unique needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and resources for clients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Co-facilitate group sessions or workshops focused on coping strategies, life skills, and recovery processes.
  • Stay informed about best practices in social work, mental health counseling, and addiction counseling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Lived Experience in additictions and recovery.
  • Oregon-Approved Peer Support Credential, or Community Health Worker Credential or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire.
  • Valid Oregon Drivers License.
  • Strong skills in crisis management and intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in the fields of mental health and social work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
