Performs semi-skilled work involving general interior and exterior building maintenance. Work also involves mail services and supply delivery to all Douglas County Facilities.
Generally, the hiring range is $39,464 - $49,330 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.
Typical work schedule: Monday - Friday 7am to 3:30pm, additional day, evening, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)
- Performs semi-skilled and skilled work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, and entry level maintenance tasks.
- Assists with general maintenance of building equipment.
- Assists with basic construction and repair work to building facilities and equipment using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Assists with snow and ice removal on sidewalks adjacent to County facilities.
- Sets up chairs, tables for meeting rooms and breaks down and cleans when finished.
- Performs cleaning duties in County offices, halls, conference rooms, and rest rooms.
- Sorts incoming and outgoing mail by department. Delivers and picks up mail from the post office and each County facility including special and urgent pickups and/or deliveries
- Prepares mail daily for pick up by contracted mail service.
- Inventories and stocks County supply closets.
- Operates a County vehicle for the purpose of delivery and pickup of mail. Ensures that County vehicle is properly maintained by cleaning the interior and exterior on a regular basis and follows maintenance schedules determined by fleet maintenance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under direct supervision, within a team or assigned to specific tasks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work is performed within defined processes, procedures, and resources, and problems are discussed with the supervisor prior to acting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma or GED
- One year of building maintenance experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and practices.
- Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Skills:
- Safe operation of a variety of hand and power tools.
- Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time-management methodology.
Abilities:
- Ability to follow basic written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in all weather conditions.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Work Environment: Work is performed both inside a facility and outdoors in all weather conditions. Some hazardous situations may exist based on work to be performed. This position requires the incumbent to remain available via mobile cellular device/email access during normally scheduled business hours.
Physical Demands: Work requires the ability to frequently lift and carry 50lbs. Work requires the ability to push and pull 100lbs. frequently. Also requires frequent bending, squatting, standing, climbing, kneeling, and walking. May be required to occasionally work in small, hard to reach spaces.
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Office equipment, basic hand tools, power tools and small motorized equipment, and vehicles.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
