COMPENSATION & BENEFITS INCLUDE:

0-3% Merit upon successful completion of the probationary period and 0-3% annual merit increases thereafter based upon evaluation score.

This position is being primarily hired for the Adult Day Club
.

Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing recreation/senior services/adult day club programs and special events; assists in the marketing and promotion of classes, recreation, senior activities, and other special events; coordinates and provides general building maintenance of recreation facilities; may oversee front counter operations at Community Center/Adult Day Club; may perform specialized clerical office support activities; may serve as pre-school director, managing a comprehensive program for children ages 2 years, 9 months to 6 years. May serve as the Adult Day Club Assistant Director when the Director is not on site, and perform functions as that of the Director similarly for the Adult Day Club.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of recreation/senior facility with primary duties in the Adult Day Club; performs opening and/or closing procedures on a daily basis; develops recreation programs and corresponding promotional brochures/flyers, including senior activities, pre-school programs, special events, and sports activities.
  • Welcomes visitors and answers incoming telephone calls; provides information regarding activity schedules and registration requirements; processes customer registrations and facility reservation requests, and inputs information into department computer system; processes customers for facility passes and photo ID's; receives funds and issues receipts; oversees concessions sales; may prepare deposits and post payments for goods and services to appropriate accounts.
  • Prepares a variety of program reports which may include building maintenance, lesson plans, inventory, and other various financial documents and reports; maintains accurate inventory of supplies, games, crafts, equipment, concession items, etc.; may participate in the shopping/ordering of supplies.
  • Works with vendors to ensure appropriate janitorial services are met; performs custodial upkeep as necessary; cleans up spills and unsanitary conditions when they occur, ensuring compliance with applicable OSHA regulations; performs general building maintenance as necessary, sets up and takes down furniture and/or equipment for meetings, classes, and other special events.
  • Oversees activities of assigned staff; prioritizes and reviews work to assure work quality and the timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities; provides or coordinates training programs for staff; counsels, coaches, and instructs employees and volunteers; assists with the recruitment and selection process; provides input to supervisor for performance evaluations; prepares work schedules; may work with advisory boards, service clubs and other community groups in the planning and implementation of events.
  • Performs inspections of facility to ensure participant safety; inspects and reports repairs needed for equipment as necessary; maintains a clean and organized recreational area; monitors all building participants during facility hours of operation to ensure orderly conduct, intervening as necessary following all established policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
  • Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
  • Drive motor vehicle to attend meetings and perform program duties.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Adult Day Club position only)
  • Provides assistance with activities of daily living skills to clients, which can include activities, feeding, toileting, hygiene care, ambulation and behavior redirection.
  • Responsible for a safe and nurturing environment for those adults that have special needs, including preparing and leading engaging activities appropriate for each individual client.
  • Communicate clearly with other staff and volunteers regarding activity program and client needs.
  • Assists in all record keeping regarding the Adult Day Club, for both clients and staff.
  • Provides assistance to the ADC Director/Supervisor as needed.
  • Will maintain the role of Assistant Director in the Directors absence per HCQC regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED; AND four (4) years of experience in recreation, education, and/or recreation facility or community center supervision; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Additional education in child development and/or early childhood education required for the Pre-School Director position. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment. Preference for persons gerontology, dementia, cognitive impairment experience or education.

  • Principles and practices of program and event supervision pertaining to area of assignment.
  • Safety practices and procedures relating to the work, including gerontological issues with particular attention to ADL assistance and practices of first-aid.

  • Program and event development and implementation in a public agency setting.
  • Budgetary and program planning principles and practices.
  • Computer applications related to the work.

  • Office administrative practices and procedures.
  • Record keeping principles and practices.

  • Providing hands on supportive care to those that are unable to perform their own activities of daily living tasks.
  • Dealing successfully with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic. Ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Maintaining accurate records and files.
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, instructions and other written materials.
  • Working without close supervision in standard work situations.
  • Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within six (6) months of date of employment.

Work is subject to performance with exposure to inclement weather conditions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background/screening. Must comply with the NAC & NRS regulations in regards to qualification and duties, physical and mental health for ADC positions.

12 paid holidays per year. Generous paid leave accrual's including 96 hours sick annually, begin accruing 120 hours annual leave each year. The County has rich benefits plans to choose from: Preferred Provider (PPO) and Health Savings Account (HSA) with supplemental benefits to include: prescription plan, dental plan, vision, life insurance opportunities, cancer insurance, and disability insurance. Compensation
Douglas County's compensation system is based on Pay for Performance wherein employees are eligible for annual performance evaluations. The current structure consists of merit increases up to 3% on a qualifying employee's anniversary and Cost of Living Adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index during the first pay period of each fiscal year. The COLA will be up to 5% depending on the CPI each year. Additionally, eligible employees can be recognized for outstanding performance, above and beyond the call of duty, and receive additional compensation through the Recognition of Excellence Program.
