POSITION SUMMARY :

Douglas County PUD offers Student Trainee positions to college bound students during the summer break months.

Work start and end dates can accommodate student availability and vary depending on college schedules. This

position is full time (40 hours per week) and the work schedule is Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. - 5 : 30 p.m. The length

of employment for this position may not exceed 5 months. The hourly rate for this position is $17.58.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Perform a variety of landscape maintenance duties including fence building, irrigation repair, and debris

hauling.

Will operate side by sides, zero turn mowers, hand tools, and power tools.

Work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse groups of people and maintain professional interactions at

all times in the workplace.

Follow District policies and safety procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE :

A high school diploma or GED and be enrolling or enrolled in college or a vocational school.

A professional work attitude and strong work ethic.

Basic knowledge and experience in operating hand and power tools.

Ability to operate mowers.

Ability to tow trailers.

Ability to work cooperatively with others in a variety of settings.

Ability to work independently and develop solutions for problems as they occur.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.

Must be able to walk long distances on both pavement and uneven terrain.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.

A valid Washington State driver license and proof of acceptable driving record.
