Job Description
Interprets and translates district documents, assists with communication planning, interprets for attendees at District meetings and disciplinary hearings and promotes interpretation services and best practice across the District. Assists in providing translation and interpretation services as well as bilingual communications within the district and to the community. Provides assistance and support to staff, parents and community to ensure student success. Develops and promotes good community relations among various district and community clientele. Interpreter Certification or Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or related field preferred.

Translate documents for distribution including handbooks; guides; legal notices; forms; policies and regulations; discipline and internet use documents; relevant applications, etc. Utilize a variety of tools including software, dictionaries, publications, Web-based research, etc.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Facilitate communication and understanding between families, school, and community while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Provide information about school and community resources & services to families
Act as a cultural link between parents, students, school, staff, and community and work with staff to facilitate social and cultural adjustment in school.
Collaborate and coordinate resources with parent partnership groups in the schools, district, and in the community to assist families and students.
Interpret consecutively or simultaneously for parents during parent/teacher conferences, IEP meetings, expulsion hearings and student disciplinary hearings, and at school and district meetings as needed.

Advanced knowledge of educational terms, phrases and acronyms in specified language., Bilingual and biliterate in English and specified language as determined by required district assessment., Effective oral and written communication skills., Frequent sitting; Occasional bending, squatting, or standing, General Office Equipment, Intermediate knowledge of inter-cultural communication including socio-linguistic diversity and variance., Mostly clean and comfortable., Occasional lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds, Operating knowledge of and experience with word processing and interpreting system., Skilled in interpersonal relations., Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
