Job Description
Responsible for supporting private school students with suspected disabilities. Uses extensive knowledge of assessment to determine eligibility for special education based on special education eligibility criteria and strong analysis skills when reviewing the results of standardized assessments and other relevant data. Consults with staff in private schools using evidence-based teaching strategies in order to support individual students with identified educational disabilities. Frequently communicates with families and staff. Develops and promotes good community relations with various district and community clientele.
Equipment & Vehicles Used
Operate and use personal computers, related software and equipment (e.g., printer), telephone.
May be required to travel within district boundaries using personal vehicle.

Work is performed in a general office setting. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate
Essential Physical Requirements
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Ensure that teachers gain an understanding of how to support the identified students in private schools, via best teaching practices using a multidisciplinary approach
Must be able to organize and manage time to meet the needs of students in multiple private schools
Develop and present in-services to private school staff
Ensure that special education procedures and guidelines are followed
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Evaluate and revise district processes for private school referrals, evaluations and Individual Service Plan (ISP) development
Work in conjunction with multidisciplinary team to conduct special education evaluations and referral meetings
Gather and review the body of evidence to determine appropriate assessments for each referral
Responsible for writing detailed evaluation reports that encompass all relevant data from each student’s body of evidence
Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.
Facilitate meetings with families and private school staff
Consult with private school staff, administration and families as appropriate
