Join Douglas County Forestry this year for an exciting, fast-paced summer opportunity, working outdoors in Douglas County's beautiful parks and campgrounds!
New this year! Seasonal Park Workers have opportunities for flexible scheduling, working approximately 20-40 hours per week!
The Seasonal Forestry Park Worker is responsible for the daily tasks of maintaining Douglas County parks and recreational areas. This includes, but is not limited to, collecting and handling park fees, raking, mowing, emptying trash containers, cleaning park facilities, painting, etc. This position reports to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor or designee at the Forestry Department located in Solon Springs, WI.
The hourly wage for the first season is $17.00 per hour. Park Workers who return to the department for summer work will receive an additional $1.00 to their base wage for each consecutive year up to the third season, $19.00 per hour. No benefits are offered with this seasonal position.

Essential Duties

- Picking up trash and emptying trash cans.
- Sweeping out park facilities.
- Cleaning and stocking restrooms / showers.
- Raking, mowing and string trimming park grounds.
- Cleaning grills.
- Collection / handling of park fees.
- Delivery of firewood.
- Keeps the beach and recreational areas free of debris.
- Performs general maintenance of park facilities - includes light carpentry repair, operation of light equipment, i.e. lawn mowers, grounds keeping and equipment maintenance.
- Performs other duties as required.
The Seasonal Park Worker will receive direction from the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, Forestry and Parks Technician, and / or Lead Park Workers.
Weekend and evening work is required in this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Testing requirements : Structured interview; references; background investigation; pre-employment drug screen.

Working Conditions
The typical field-based setting requires exposure to inclement weather conditions and natural terrain. Seasonal summer conditions often include heat, humidity, and exposure to biting insects.
Physical Requirements
Ability to physically make rounds on foot or by vehicle throughout the campground and park area. Ability to work outside and adapt to changing work conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, stand, balance, sit; reach, grasp, talk, hear, and see; and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Specific physical abilities required by this job include using both hands for frequent fingering and grasping; vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
