This position performs specialized duties in management, development and administration of operations, maintenance and services of County parks, campgrounds and/or recreational areas with primary duties including professional planning and development, project and personnel management, program improvement, land use operations, data research and preparation, employee training and supervision. This position may serve as department director in their absence and meets the definition of a ‘managerial at-will employee’ consistent with Personnel Rules.

- The incumbent will contribute to and participate in the management, coordination and planning of County park, campground and/or recreational areas, including but not limited to, assisting in project feasibility and cost analysis, design development, plans and construction specifications; assist in contractor selection and contract compliance; citizen engagement and participation; recordkeeping and overseeing site operations;
- Prepare varied and complex reports involving surveys, research, statistical data, analysis, procedural and administrative studies;
- Coordinate, evaluate and administer park, campground and/or recreational programs; promote program policies at events as needed throughout County; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness in meeting established objectives; recommend program improvements and modifications; maintain records and prepare various reports on operations, programs and/or activities;
- Inspect park areas and collaborate with management staff and supervisors to identify, prioritize and assign work projects; evaluate repair/replacement, accessibility, materials, staffing and equipment needs; work with vendors as needed to identify more cost-effective equipment and supplies;
- Oversee the applicable fresh water collection, testing and reporting program for County park, campground and/or recreational area;
- Manage, supervise, train and conduct performance evaluations of assigned support staff; allocate resources and develop completion schedules with staff to accomplish goals; identify and resolve potential health and safety hazards in the work environment; make safety inspections, enforce safety regulations, and actively promote safe work practices;
- Monitor fiscal expenditures to remain within established budgetary constraints, including allocating resources and approving expenditures. Interpret policies and procedures; respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints; maintain and/or develop various reports and correspondence;
- Coordinate, administer and/or attend special events to promote County parks, campgrounds and/or recreational areas; participate in marketing, advertising, promotions, exhibits, displays, brochures, maps or other visitor information.

- Bachelor’s degree in business management, park administration, horticulture, construction, planning, architecture, engineering, landscape or related field and 4 years of progressively responsible work experience in management or planning, preferably in a park, campground and/or recreational setting, which includes supervisory experience.
- A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible work-related experience.
- Experience Managing Public Works Projects
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
- Experience with managing or developing campgrounds and/or parks

- At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers license
- Regular and consistent attendance
