The Douglas Middle School is looking for a 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year.
Moderate Needs Special Education Teacher Therapeutic Setting
Individualized Instruction:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and lesson plans that address the unique needs and learning styles of students with disabilities.
Therapeutic Milieu:
Foster a safe, predictable, and positive classroom environment that develops self regulation, social skills, and self-advocacy.
Behavior Management:
Implement evidence-based behavior intervention strategies and crisis prevention techniques.
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other educators, therapists, parents, and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Communication:
Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
Instructional Strategies:
Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Crisis Intervention:
Provide support and de-escalation techniques during challenging situations.
Training and Mentoring:
Provide training and ongoing coaching to staff on therapeutic crisis intervention implementation.
Program Development:
Assist in developing and implementing program practices and procedures.
