AmeriCorps Director

The AmeriCorps Director, under the direction of the COO, will assist with the planning and implementation of the AmeriCorp’s senior programs.  Manage the department budget and supervise the work assignment and performance of staff and volunteers.  Represents Douglass Community Services and promotes its services and programs to the communities it serves.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.  Minimum of 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.  1 year of lead or supervisory experience.  Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  Ability to develop strategies to achieve organizational goals.  Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Ability to work on a team.

Compensation

This is a full-time exempt position at a rate of $20.29 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates program operations in a manner consistent with the requirements of contractual agreements, laws, regulations, grant funding documents, and policies of Douglass Community Services, Inc.
• Serving as the point of contact, completes federal applications, including budgets, and reports on program activities.
• Assist with daily management of FGP and RSVP programs and act as a mediator for any concerns or conflicts which may arise.
• Maintains positive relationship with AmeriCorps Seniors staff, attends meetings and trainings of AmeriCorps Seniors Program.
  
• Maintains positive relationship with Corporation for National and Community Service staff to ensure effective delivery of services.
• Supervises FGP Project Coordinator and RSVP Coordinator.
• Along with the COO, develops and sets individual and departmental team goals and oversees program strategic planning as determined by COO/CEO.
• Prepares and submits monthly reports as directed by COO.
• Represents and promotes the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Foster Grandparent Program in the area served by the agency by developing positive public relations and communications in the community. Provides informational programs to interested community groups and organizations, preparing media materials and serving on community boards, councils, and committees.
• Participates in fundraising activities, solicits donations, performs promotional activities and participates in activity follow-up.

This position requires the employee to maintain attention to safety at all times.  Compliance with all safety policies is a must. 

Physical/Mental Demands

This position may require lifting/carrying (40lbs.), walking, climbing, bending, sitting, stooping, kneeling, driving, prolonged visual concentration, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.  There is a moderate degree of mental concentration pertaining to the job at hand.  If assistance is needed, contact your supervisor
