Job Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient and safe handling of materials, and supervising the warehouse team. This role involves managing inventory, coordinating shipping and receiving activities, and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision:
- Oversee and manage warehouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and company policies.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular physical counts.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing department to reorder stock as needed.
- Manage inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Shipping and Receiving:
- Coordinate and oversee the receiving of incoming materials and the shipping of outgoing orders.
- Ensure that all shipments are accurate, properly labeled, and documented.
- Work with logistics providers to optimize shipping schedules and costs.
- Warehouse Operations:
- Ensure the warehouse is organized, clean, and free of safety hazards.
- Implement and maintain efficient warehouse layouts and storage systems.
- Operate and maintain warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of incoming and outgoing materials to ensure quality standards are met.
- Address and resolve any quality issues in a timely manner.
- Reporting:
- Generate and analyze reports on warehouse performance, including inventory levels, order fulfillment rates, and employee productivity.
- Provide regular updates to management on warehouse operations and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- 3 years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes.
