JOB SUMMARY :
The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations in the facility. He / she plays a key role in ensuring that quality products are manufactured safely, in an environmentally sound manner, efficiently, and on time The Production Engineering role acts as a technical resource for Operations personnel, applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolves plant problems and enable production of low cost, quality products.
The responsibility of the position is to ensure that products are produced at the rate needed to meet customer demand while maintaining quality and safety standards. The position plays a vital role in the organization, liaising across various functions to deliver designs equipped for manufacture and providing solutions (troubleshooting) to the problems concerning the design and manufacturing process (optimization).
The Production Engineer provides technical support for an operating area helping to improve asset capability and production output. The Production Engineer works closely with Maintenance personnel on mechanical improvements and Engineers on the implementation of various capital projects and process control improvements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Job Requirements :
- Demonstrated capability to analyze and troubleshoot operational and equipment problems and provide reasonable and accurate recommendations and solutions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals; ability to present complex situations in a concise manner.
- Must have the ability to interact effectively with technical contacts, as well as hourly workforce.
- Good organizational, time management, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management skills preferred.
- Must have good problem-solving skills using Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a tool.
- Computer skills are a must with knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
- Ability to build partnerships across and between functional groups and lead a project.
- Experience working in a Union environment is a plus. Proven experience and effectiveness managing a union hourly workforce is desired and preferred.
