Job Summary:
The Physical Education (PE) and Health Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in physical education and health. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment that promotes physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and overall well-being for students.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Development

Design and implement a comprehensive PE and health curriculum aligned with state and national standards.

Develop age-appropriate lessons that emphasize physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits.

Teach health education topics such as nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, human development, and personal wellness.

Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Classroom & Behavior Management

Create a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel encouraged to participate.

Establish and enforce rules, routines, and expectations for respectful and active engagement.

Manage and maintain PE equipment and classroom materials.
Assessment & Student Progress

Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.

Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress with parents/guardians.

Use data to inform instruction and support student growth.
Collaboration & Professional Development

Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.

Valid state teaching certification/license in PE and/or Health Education.

Experience working with elementary/middle/high school students (as applicable).

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Ability to foster a positive and active learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with adaptive physical education or special education inclusion.

CPR, First Aid, and coaching certifications.

Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices.
