What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Milling Machine Operator position at Dover Precision Components?
Are you looking for a challenging role in manufacturing operations? As a CNC Mill Machinist at Dover Precision Components, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual machines, including mills and lathes, to perform machining operations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Reading and processing sheets, blueprints, and sketches of parts to determine machining requirements
- Interpreting work instructions and identifying proper tooling for operations
- Calculating feeds and speeds for various materials and intuitively understanding capabilities of tooling and machinery
- Performing quality inspections and adhering to all policies and procedures
- Applying principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduce setup times and improve productivity
Preferred candidates will have prior experience with precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .001". Experience with OKUMA Space Turn LB3000 EX2 Lathes (L athe with live tooling) is also desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background, with one year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, the employee must be able to stand and talk or hear, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, taste or smell, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles are expected.
