As a 2nd Shift CNC Mill Machinist at Dover Precision Components, you will set up and operate manual machines, including mills and lathes, to perform machining operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Reading and processing sheets, blueprints, and sketches of parts to determine machining requirements
- Interpreting work instructions and identifying proper tooling for operations
- CALCULATING PROPER FEEDS AND SPEEDS FOR VARIOUS STEEL GRADES, COPPER, BRASS, ALUMINUM, AND BRONZE
- Intuitively understanding capabilities of tooling and machinery
- Understanding applicable quality systems and performing necessary quality inspections
- Adhering to all policies and procedures
- Applying principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduce setup times and improve productivity
- Actively participating in daily Continuous Improvement activities
You will be required to have prior experience with precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .001". Preferred experience with OKUMA Space Turn LB3000 EX2 Lathes (L athe with live tooling) is also desired.
The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background, with one year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, the employee must be able to stand and talk or hear, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, taste or smell, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally to fumes or airborne particles. It is essential to understand the importance of adhering to all Waukesha Bearings policies and procedures.
