What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher 2025-26 SY position at Dover Sherborn Middle School?
Dover Sherborn Middle School is seeking a skilled and experienced Special Educator with formal reading certification to support children, staff, and families. The role would be a 1.0 position.
A successful candidate will have a Master’s degree and experience providing individualized instruction across academic, social, and behavioral domains. Furthermore, the candidate must have multi-sensory reading certification. Competency and experience in administering standardized and criterion-referenced assessments, developing IEPs, and monitoring student progress is essential. Effective strategies for optimal student engagement, and facilitating accommodations and modifications to support student access within the general education classroom are imperative.
Responsibilities:
-Teaches multi-sensory reading to students with disabilities
- Conducts standardized and informal assessments
- Effective use of strategies and knowledge of pedagogy to teach students with disabilities
- Communication skills both with staff and parents
- Serves as liaison for students with disabilities
- Cultural proficiency and responsiveness
- Writes evaluation reports, IEPs, and progress reports
