TACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Purchasing :
- Monitor, maintain, and purchase inventory in accordance with our Quality Management System
- Maintain adequate branch-level inventory to ensure organizational goals are met
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, rebates, and other terms with suppliers
- Coordinate interbranch transfers for inventory “out of position”
- Proactively review and react to impending stock-outs
- Purchase Order entry through automated tools and / or EDI
- Update product costing assumptions in ERP system
- Provide project quotations for Strategic Sourcing team
- Final check of pre-receiving and receiving documents
Quality :
Analyze, investigate, and complete inventory related Non-Conformance ReportsManage supplier claims from inception to completionSTRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Purchasing :
Analyze commodity data, macro-economic trends, and geopolitical information to ensure optimal purchase timing and macro-level risk-reductionDevelop and execute risk-reduction strategies and multiple-source initiativesWork cross-functionally with sales and operations teams to ensure that we’re meeting organizational goals and responding to market trendsProactively manage supplier relationships utilizing a long-term / balanced approachBalance working capital requirements with inventory service level requirementsDevelop and track supplier scorecards and on-time deliveryTravel to suppliers and / or supplier events on an as-needed basisDevelopment and management of new suppliers in accordance with our Quality Management SystemQuality :
Management of our inventory Approved Manufacturers List (AML)Assist in the development and improvement of process, policies, and proceduresManage all inventory related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)Identify and execute on continual improvement initiativesQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience (procurement, operations, or sales)Industrial distribution experience (Metal Service Center, PVF, Fluid Power preferred)Communicate effectively and efficiently with internal & external audiencesAbility to prioritize, balance, and handle high volume work in a fast-paced environmentStrategic thinking with an ability to identify best practices and influence / drive changeSkilled at relationship management & solution sellingFull command of Microsoft Excel including filtering, pivot tables, etc.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
