What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Coordinator - Woodwork-Metalwork-Stone company position at Dovetail Custom Wood & Metal?
Project Coordinator – Millwork & Custom Fabrication
Location: Southeast Austin, TX (On-site Only)
Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Dovetail is seeking a Project Coordinator who thrives in the space between strategy and execution — someone who can read between the lines of a construction drawing just as easily as they can connect the dots across teams. If you’re sharp, adaptable, and eager to work in a highly creative, fast-paced environment rooted in craftsmanship, this is the role for you.
This is a hands-on, in-office position supporting engineering, installation, and project management functions. You’ll work closely with a dynamic team of builders, designers, and operations leads to ensure every scope is captured, every quote is tracked, and every detail is covered. We prefer candidates with some exposure to woodworking, custom fabrication, or millwork, whether that’s from the field, the shop floor, or a related role in the industry.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Pulling scope information from architectural and shop drawings to assist engineering
- Coordinating installation quotes and communicating with the PM team to select install partners
- Creating and maintaining initial sample logs and product tracking documents
- Assisting in the development and upkeep of internal construction schedule templates
- Cleaning, organizing, and managing product data — including O&M manuals, cut sheets, and submittals
- Supporting ongoing research & development documentation and innovation efforts
- Managing day-to-day support tasks as needed — every day may look a little different
- Staying responsive and flexible to project needs as timelines and scopes evolve
What We’re Looking For:
- 1–3 years of experience in a construction, millwork, or architectural fabrication setting
- Bonus points for hands-on experience in a woodworking or fabrication shop (we love people who know what it takes to build the thing they’re coordinating)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Experience with construction documents, submittals, RFIs, and basic schedules
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, with the ability to stay organized across folders and cloud tools
- Clear and confident communication, both verbal and written
- A self-starter mindset who can take initiative and ask the right questions
Must-Haves:
- Local to the greater Austin area — this is an on-site role
- Available Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Reliable daily transportation to our Southeast Austin campus
Bonus Experience (Not Required):
- Familiarity with construction project management software like Procore, Bluebeam, or Smartsheet
- Experience coordinating or supporting custom fabrication, high-end commercial interiors, or GC/architect-driven projects
