What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator position at Dow Aero, LLC?
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS) is responsible for creation and implementation of a safety culture within the organization. This role will identify safety concerns, both current and future, and implementing necessary policies to ensure the organization meets all federal, state, and internal health and safety rules.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop, Manage, and Improve on Safety Policies throughout the company.
- Execute assigned projects and objectives with minimal supervision, while consistently delivering quality results.
- Have a thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, FAA, State, etc safety and environmental regulations that must be adhered to.
- Develop, implement, and teach training courses and programs as related to EHS functions throughout the company including process adherence, equipment operation, etc.
- Investigate and report on all internal accidents that may occur.
- Manage security systems including access control, security cameras, etc.
- Collect and review safety concerns from internal and external parties and implement changes to address these issues as needed.
- Routinely conducts observations across all facilities to ensure safe operations of all machinery, employees, and materials.
- Monitor all safety and environmental related equipment, schedule routine maintenance, and replacement of equipment as needed including but not limited to:
- Fire Extinguishers, Smoke Detectors, Fire Suppression Systems, etc
- At height equipment: Hard hats, fall harnesses, etc
- Equipment safety devices, including lockout tagout devices
- Environmental monitoring and control equipment
- Security Cameras, and recording equipment
- Maintain all chemical substances from birth to death along with necessary safety paperwork.
- Administer emergency notifications across the company in a timely manner to ensure the safety of all employees affected.
- Liaison with outside vendors, building landlords, internal stakeholders, emergency services on applicable EHS related activities
- Perform a variety of small facility repairs and upkeep.
- Coordinate planning and purchasing of consumable items for organization as requested.
- Ability to drive company vehicles and qualify to be placed on company insurance.

Required Education or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing/maintenance environment.
- Intermediate/Advanced skill level in MS Office
- First Aid, CPR, or other applicable basic medical training
Preferred Education
- Trade School or B.S in Safety Management related field
Supervisory or Management Responsibility
- This position has no direct supervisory or management responsibilities.
Primary Work Environment
- Climate controlled primarily, occasionally not climate controlled;
- Shop/Warehouse; occasional loud noises;
- Occasional fumes and particles;
- Frequent moving mechanical equipment and vibrations.

Expected Days and Hours
- Monday through Friday
- First Shift - 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
Open and able to work occasional overtime, weekends, and willing to rotate shifts as required dependent on workload.
Travel
- Travel is rarely expected for this position.
Required Personal Equipment/Tooling
- Protective steel-toed footwear.
Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for job duties and responsibilities will be provided as necessary by Dow Aero Logistics, including protective eyewear, respirator, etc.
