Responsibilities
Reporting to the EHS Director, the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for:
- providing expertise, counsel, and content for the company’s environmental and safety programs/initiatives.
- evaluating the company work environment to determine safety compliance, gaps; recommend changes accordingly.
- communicating safety requirements, procedures to all staff via a variety of media/venues.
- authoring, implementing, and administering appropriate safety policies.
- completing accident/illness investigations; documenting as is appropriate and communicating with government agencies and vendors.
- leading and facilitating the company safety committee.
- evaluating safety deficiencies, authoring and communicating documentation relative to the same.
- managing relationships for government agencies and company safety vendors.
- providing safety training to new hires and remedial training to current staff.
- developing training content and structure, partnering with managers/supervisors as is necessary.
- overseeing environmental issues and addressing any compliance gaps.
- monitoring ISO policy compliance.
- providing required reporting to all government agencies.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field of study.
- One to three years of experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence in OSHA compliance and environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of Worker's Compensation practices and requirements.
- A commitment to deadlines and follow through.
- Excellent communication skills.
- An ability to facilitate effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
This position is targetted at $83,000 base compensation; however, may vary depending upon candidate experience. We offer a benefits package second to none.
