What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nursing position at Down East Community Hospital?
Director of Nursing, Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the DON will plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of CMS Conditions of Participation for Critical Access Hospitals.
- Resource Utilization
- Integration in the Hospital and Community
- Public Relations
- Customer Service
The Director of Nursing reports to the CNO.
Job Requirements:
- RN License, BSN preferred
- Current Maine license
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Emergency Department experience with the ability to demonstrate and build on leadership abilities
- Management experience preferred
- Leadership abilities such as communication, exceptional customer service, organization, management of conflict, problem-solving, mentoring with strong clinical thinking skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers and other healthcare team members is a must.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Medical/Surgical certification preferred
