What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optician position at Downey Eye Clinic?
Location: we have two locations - one in Columbia and one in Russell Springs. Training will be at the Columbia location and candidate may be expected to travel between locations.
Duties
- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Take accurate measurements of patient's eyes and facial features
- Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Maintain inventory of eyewear and contact lenses
- Process orders for eyewear and contact lenses
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ophthalmology systems, and aseptic technique
- Excellent sales skills to effectively communicate with customers and recommend appropriate eyewear options
- Familiarity with medical coding and ability to accurately record information in medical records
- Proficient in conducting vital signs measurements and understanding basic anatomy and physiology
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide exceptional customer service
- Prior experience as an optician or in a similar role is preferred, but not required
