What is an Electromechanical Tech – Rental & Repair?
The Electromechanical Technician uses knowledge of mechanical and electrical technologies to repair, install, operate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain automated technology used in the oil and gas industry.
In this role, you will:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair functions as directed by supervisor and or designated shop lead
- Work under direct supervision and from verbal and/or written instructions
- Determine the method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine, or a piece of equipment by reading blueprints, schematics, diagrams and identify operation of systems
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of parts to ensure that all specifications are met and inspect parts for defects
- Effectively communicate issues, requirements, timelines and status to manager and peers and engage in a wide range of electrical and mechanical tasks
- Analyze and record test results and prepare written documentation
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components to the individual part failure
- Conduct, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components
- Inspect, test and adjust electronic equipment using multi-meters, ammeter, etc.
- Setup and troubleshoot VFDs, 24v analog and digital circuitry, electric motors and identify and correct failures
- Communicate actions taken to repair the equipment to manager and peers
- Perform entry level shop floor duties
- Install electronic parts and hardware using soldering equipment and hand tools
- Operate, test and maintain robotic equipment
- 30% travel/work in assigned field locations and other branches as workload requires
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required and Preferred Experience:
- 1 years’ experience mechanical and electrical technology and knowledge
- Work self-guided and be able to prioritize jobs
- Standard testing procedures for electronical equipment
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagram, troubleshoot issues, and solve problems
- Familiarity 480V 3-phase and related test equipment
- Experience with 480V and below
- Requires good communication skills to adequately relay the state of the equipment, needed repairs, parts and estimated repair time to management and peers
- Troubleshoot issues and solve problems
- Off hours support via phone, email and emergency response
- Ability and willingness to adapt and work rotating schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the company driver requirements to operate a company vehicle when traveling
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to manipulate with fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms, work in wet, humid conditions, cold or hot (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions, perform duties near moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, smell, work in high/ precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations
- Lift, push or pull shop equipment and tools up to 50 lbs.
- Operate forklift, overhead crane, and job cranes
- See at a close distance (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and at a long distance (20 feet or more), identify and distinguish colors
- Observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point and judge distances and spatial relationships, three-dimensional vision, and the ability to adjust focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
- Moderate to very loud noises
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Vocational or technical training preferred – electronics or electrical technology
- Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred – electronics or electrical technology
