What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Keeper position at Downstream Casino Resort?
**Job Title:** Groundskeeper
The Groundskeeper will oversee preventative maintenance, manage ecosystems and landscapes, and provide exceptional customer service to all patrons.
Essential Functions:
- Performs and oversees preventative maintenance
- Assists with the management of native and naturalized ecosystems, built landscapes and supporting irrigation systems
- Supervises the repair of public areas
- Communicates pertinent organizational information to Facility Team Members
- Orders supplies and understands the budgetary process and knowledge of inventory supply and control
- Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times
- Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies
- Attends all necessary training meetings
- Assist in other projects, as directed by Director of Facilities
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older upon employment
- Associate or bachelor of science degree in horticulture, turf management, related field or its equivalency required
- One (1) year experience in a supervisory position preferred
- Ability to drive safely
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Work nights, weekends and holidays as required
Physical, Mental and Work Demands:
- Must have the physical ability to work with extreme weather
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, to squat, stand or bend repeatedly
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust
- Must have excellent hearing abilities
