Description

Downtown Fresno Partnership (DFP) is seeking a self-motivated, creative person for the full-time position of Program Coordinator. The work of the position contributes to DFP’s positive impact on existing businesses and equitable development through a combination of day-to-day and longer-term initiatives.


Responsible for:

The Program Coordinator reports to DFP’s Program Manager, who, in collaboration with the President & CEO, organizes and manages the work of multiple positions to operate DFP’s marketing and events programs, and move DFP’s priority projects forward.

The Program Coordinator is anticipated to focus on a non-events portfolio of projects that includes:
  • Creating and running a new retail-oriented Merchant Accelerator to encourage inclusive economic growth
  • Assisting property owners in the redevelopment of retail and entertainment, in collaboration with DFP’s retail consultant-broker team
  • Supporting implementation of publicly funded storefront improvement and mural programs
  • Advancing DFP’s goals through research, advocacy, convening, organizational development, and securing funding to address Downtown infrastructure challenges and opportunities such as waste management, parking communications, public restrooms and drinking fountains, streetscape improvements, and public art
  • Capturing and assembling visitor and population data from available public and private sources for a variety of needs
  • Researching and reporting vital statistics relating to organizational efforts, downtown growth, and more as part of building the organization’s Annual Report
  • Fund development including grant writing/reporting to generate sustainability for the work of this position and the larger team
  • Support for initiatives involving the Downtown Fresno Foundation, present and future
  • Operating bookkeeping systems in support of the Foundation and programs involving both DFP and the Foundation

The Program Coordinator will also contribute to the work of DFP as a whole, including:
  • Providing input, perspective, and new ideas as a valued member of DFP’s marketing and communications team on the direction of creative content-making and community engagement
  • Developing and telling original stories such as through interviews, case studies, and data-driven research
  • Creating and disseminating written and visual content as directed for DFP’s multiple channels for marketing and communications (digital, print, broadcast, etc.) and public relations (including creating and distributing news releases, interviews, etc.)
  • Creating collateral materials for in-person display or distribution
  • Maintaining Downtown brand standards for consistency and positive portrayal across all media
  • Managing DFP contact databases including both marketing contacts and community members such as business and property owners
  • Directing marketing interns, and helping to operate the intern program as a team including hiring, outlining scopes of work, and measuring outcomes
  • All-hands support for special events

This position does not directly supervise any employees, but routinely manages relationships in all directions as a member of a high-performing team. The ability to adapt to changes in projects, schedules, and team dynamics is essential.


Requirements:

A hardworking, entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for revitalizing urban areas are core to DFP’s culture and must-haves for candidates for any position.

For this position the ideal candidate will possess an Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, communications, or a related field. Qualifying years of experience are highly valued and may be considered as a substitute for formal education.

The ideal candidate will also possess excellent written/verbal communication skills, knowledge of/proficient use of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, experience with Illustrator/Adobe Products for use in developing collateral materials, as well as skills in research and project management.

The ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish, and an understanding of municipal government structure, are plusses.

Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license.


Compensation:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $22.00–24.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid vacation and holidays; and an available retirement savings program.

This position is initially being created for two years thanks to grant funding from The Kresge Foundation. As DFP’s workload and impact continue to scale, and as additional funding is secured, we anticipate the position being incorporated into the permanent staff structure of the organization.
