Events Manager
Reports to: Director of Engagement
Schedule: In Office; Mon-Fri; some evenings and weekends required
Salary: Starting at $48,000 DOE
The Downtown Mesa Association is seeking an experienced, creative, organized, and energetic candidate to serve as the organization’s full-time Events Manager.

Role Responsibilities
Event Planning, Outreach, and Execution
● Responsible for planning and implementation of four signature events per calendar year with a goal of continuing to grow and elevate these events
● Coordinate logistics for all events as assigned, including but not limited to: pre-event research, permitting, securing all equipment needs, communicating staffing needs to Clean Team Supervisor, event merchandise, managing event spreadsheets, initiating conversations with partners and participants, etc.
● Actively lead the set-up, execution, and break down of each event.
● Supervise and direct all staff and volunteers during events
● Assist with maintaining, updating, and growing the database of event attendee contacts.
● Collects data for Post event analytics and reporting
● Self-incentivize attending local events to perform independent research – gather ideas and inspiration, vendor and entertainment contacts, and more.
● Seeks inspiration through research of best practices in the place making industry
● Manage individual event budgets, with supervisor.
● Assist in recruiting volunteers and staff for events that may require additional hands.
Graphic Design & Marketing
● Produce event graphics and print materials, cohesive with organizational branding, which includes marketing collateral, event collateral, event signage, event merchandise etc. in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.
● Work with Marketing Manager to create a marketing strategy for each event, including promotion of events through social media, e-newsletters (e.g. Mailchimp), on-the-ground/DIY tactics and more.
● Familiarity and comfort with video, photo and all content creation relating to capturing downtown events.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Education
● Minimum of three years (3) of relevant experience with event management or related field.
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Ability to develop and maintain excellent, effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, vendors and partners.
● Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail, as well as collaborate in a team setting.
● High degree of oral and written communication skills, and professionalism and customer service in all forms of communication.
● Experience with and an eye for graphic design; ability to utilize Adobe Suite products, Canva, etc. to produce both public-facing and internal content.
● Efficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
● Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed. Many Downtown Mesa events, promotions and some required meetings will take place outside of traditional working hours.
Preferred Skills
● Experience working with non-profits, events, retail, or urban placemaking
● Familiarity with Downtown Mesa
● Experience with or knowledge of Business Improvement Districts
● Spanish-speaking, intermediate to fluent, is a plus.
