Job Title: Assistant Manager – Thrift Store
Overview:
Downtown Rescue Mission is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our thrift store. The Assistant Manager will assist the Store Manager in overseeing day-to-day activities, including staff supervision, inventory management, and promoting the store's Christian values.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Assist in day-to-day store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times.
- Monitor sales performance and help achieve monthly revenue goals.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and motivate staff and volunteers to provide excellent customer service.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
Customer Service:
- Ensure a welcoming and positive shopping experience for all customers.
- Handle escalated customer concerns or complaints professionally.
- Promote store promotions, sales, and events to customers.
Inventory Management:
- Assist with sorting, pricing, and displaying donated goods to maximize sales potential.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with the Store Manager to address shortages or excesses.
- Monitor expenses and assist in finding cost-effective solutions to operational challenges.
- Ensure proper categorization and quality control of merchandise.
Mission-Driven Initiatives
- Actively support and promote the Christian mission and values of the thrift store in all interactions and operations.
Qualifications
- Previous retail or management experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., POS systems, Microsoft Office).
- Capability to sort, organize, and move merchandise in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry items up to 40 pounds as needed.
