Summary
Help discover, secure, and track institutional funding opportunities that will ensure DWC’s financial sustainability and future success! Reporting to the Grants Manager, you will be responsible for supporting administrative tasks on the Grants team, identifying new funding prospects and opportunities, drafting and reviewing proposals and reports, and coordinating with programs and finance teams to identify organizational needs. DWC’s Grants Specialist will also manage a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and/or government funders. Please submit a resume and cover letter through DWC’s application portal. Essential Functions
Weekly, manage coordination of all grants and contracts by maintaining and updating proposal and award information in systems and databases, creating and maintaining files, and coordinating/tracking proposal submission, award set-up, compliance, tracking, and reporting.
Weekly, create and distribute grant announcements for all new funding awards.
Track and share meeting minutes for internal and external touchpoints, as assigned.
Quarterly, share grant updates across executive and senior leadership teams to ensure transparency in grants and share relevant organizational materials with external grant writers to help them stay aware of programmatic and organizational shifts at DWC.
Meet with donors regularly, virtually and in person, and engage them in as many ways as possible. Effectively coordinate between all constituents from prospecting through closeout.
Identify and solicit corporate, foundation, and government grant opportunities matched to DWC programs and activities and determine which opportunities strategically align with DWC’s organizational priorities and capacity. Contribute to the fundraising goal for Grants revenue.
Review grants and reports drafted by grant writing consultants or teammates for accuracy and clarity.
Compile grant reports and renewals using existing language and templates.
Work with Development team to engage new and existing foundation partners and enhance relationships through grants, event sponsorships, volunteer opportunities, and in-kind donations.
Possess a strong understanding of the measures and metrics used to evaluate DWC programs and coordinate with Program Directors and the Measurement and Evaluation Specialist to ensure outcomes are appropriately tracked.
Work with Finance, Operations, and Program staff to monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with all public and private grant requirements.
Assist with additional activities in support of our annual Fund Development Plan as needed, including annual and planned giving, capital campaigns, events, tours and presentations, and reporting.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- 1-3 years of previous grant writing, development, project management and/or fundraising for a nonprofit organization required.
- Rigorous, systematic, and disciplined approach to research, coordination, tracking, and reporting
- Exception skill in comprehension, analysis, and technical writing, including the ability to articulate and explain complex funding and financial issues in a clear, non-technical manner
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the organization
- Demonstrated success as a team player, including the ability to develop and maintain a goal-oriented, positive attitude throughout the organization
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

- Must be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC.
- Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
- You will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.
