Role and Responsibilities
- Leads by example and will at times take the wheel to show Team Leads practical ways to execute difficult tasks.
- Monitor workers on site during production activities to ensure strict adherence to quality and safety procedures and standards.
- Responsible for the training of new employees on how to safely use machinery and following procedures to ensure safety, quality, and consistency.
- Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the systems integration and test functions to ensure the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards, and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Plan production schedules, review component parts, and sub-assembly availability against build schedule.
- Review parts shortages with purchasing and adjust schedules as necessary.
- Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, quantity, safety, and ISO 9001.
- Participate in planning meetings, recommending space, personnel, and equipment requirements.
- Will notify the Maintenance Department of any equipment issues, concerns and/or breakdowns.
- Check output according to specifications (production, parts, material, etc.).
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing resources based on production schedule needs.
- Set daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
- Ensure that our high standards of housekeeping are maintained.
- Attend production meetings and others as required.
- Will participate in 30, 60, 90 and year-end reviews with your manager for your team members.
- Serves as a key communicator between Team Leads, employees and management to create healthy communication.
- Identifies issues in efficiency and recommends improvements.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma – an advanced technical, engineering, or relevant field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a supervisor or similar lead role.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively relate with team members and management.
- Excellent organizational skills and profound ability to schedule multiple activities and resources for efficient and effective utilization.
- Strong ability to motivate, lead, and give direction to team members.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in the written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Exhibit good time-management skills.
- Exceptional ability to read, understand, and interpret production blueprints accurately.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normally working on the plant floor and occasionally involved in manual labor. Will at times be exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, vibration, welding sparks, grease, oil, and diesel fuel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to hear, stand, walk, talk and see. Regularly uses hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. Performs repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and the Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
