Job Description:
- PURPOSE OF JOB:
To aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders, the ECG/Stress technician performs non-invasive cardiovascular tests on a patient population and is responsible for Age Specific Criteria for Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics (by orientation and yearly competency validation) in a variety of settings in the hospital including all nursing Units, O/P Testing areas and the Emergency Department.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs diagnostic testing and completes required documentation within the Cardiac Services Department.
- Promotes safety through adherence to protocols, policies and Joint Commission patient safety goals.
- Actively participates and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals.
- Communicates and collaborates within the department and hospital to provide supportive functions as necessary to achieve/maintain departmental fiscal goals.
- Maintains clinical and technical competence according to unit specific standards.
Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education
High School graduate or equivalent
CCT (Certified Cardiographic Technician) registry or Certified EKG technician preferred but not required.
B. Experience
Minimally 2 years experience as an ECG technician in a hospital/medical facility
preferred
C. Skills
Arrhythmia recognition preferred
Performing electrocardiograms, stress testing and holter monitor application
Training may be provided to qualified applicants
