Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS :
- PURPOSE OF JOB : A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties dependent upon assignment. Position will be assigned based on practice need and will assist in clinical areas based on assessment of daily needs. Works in all DH Physician practices as designated by the manager/director .
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Adaptable knowledge base and communication skills to perform assignment.
- Adaptable computer skills and ability to perform functions dependent upon department assignment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Patient care assisting physicians in preparing patient visits, communicating with physicians, patients, families and other health care providers.
- Data entry into ECW and Meditech
- Proficiency in telephone and communications skills, both oral and written
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent
- Medical assistant diploma or certification.
- If Registered, valid registration
- Experience: Two years of health care experience, experience in applicable practice preferred.
- Other Skills: EMR Knowledge (e Clinical Works Experience preferred but not required) . Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and organization services.
- Knowledge of individual responsibilities to accurately direct callers.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to patient information.
- Knowledge of organizations policies and procedures
- Good communication skills and attention to detail. Must be able to interact with administration, physicians and other department personnel on a daily basis.
- Skill in using computers.
- Skill in using multi-line phone system, including transferring calls and paging.
- Skill in exercising sound judgment and remaining professional at all times
- Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Maintaining medical assistance, clinical knowledge base.
- Ability to elicit appropriate information to properly direct patients.
- Ability to calm, or defuse irate callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns develop solutions to problems.
- Ability to multi-task and organize work for effective completion.
- Ability to be punctual and available for daily assigned work.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
