Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to diagnose and treat a variety of animal health issues. The Veterinarian will work in a collaborative environment, ensuring the highest standards of veterinary care are met. This is a volunteer position to help an animal rescue. The hours will vary. We are typically looking for someone to visit our shelter a couple times a month or as an on call basis.
Duties
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health status.
- Diagnose and treat medical conditions
- Administer vaccinations and medications as needed.
- Provide guidance to volunteers/staff on animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Experience
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Experience in animal handling, restraint, and grooming is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases is essential.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients regarding their pets' health needs.
