JOB SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for a range of moderately complex accounting activities in an accurate and timely manner for multiple companies.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate with other departments and subsidiary companies to ensure business activity is posted to the general ledger correctly and in a timely manner
- Capital asset accounting
- Reconcile and prepare entries for prepaid expenses monthly
- Prepare monthly credit card account reconciliations
- Prepare, post, and review journal entries
- General ledger and bank account reconciliation
- Balance intercompany accounts between Doyon, Limited and subsidiaries
- Maintain and invoice accounts receivable
- Process shareholder transactions
- Support external audits
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy
- Document and explain accounting transactions
- Meet deadlines, organize work materials, and manage time effectively
- Other duties as assigned
- Infrequent overnight travel may be required

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and at least one year of relevant work experience; associate degree in accounting and at least 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with two or more years of relevant work experience
- Accounting experience in a corporate environment
- Prior Alaska Native Corporations work experience
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
