The Senior Systems Engineer position is a lead technical resource for the designDATA Professional Services team. The Systems Engineer is responsible for testing new technologies, efficiently implementing, and managing the overall implementation of our core Cloud and Infrastructure Services for all designDATA clients. The Systems Engineer will also own the strategy and technical relationship during onboarding.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Contribute to technical discussions regarding the acquisition and/or implementation of new products and services.
- Lead evaluations of new technologies; fully vetting technology and help develop project implementation plans.
- Provide project plans, technical briefs, architectural design, implementation, and operating procedure documents.
- Collaborate with technical team leads and management on matters such as business processes, technical roadmaps, and training.
- Lead Level 1 & 2 Projects (e.g. SSO, Email Security Service Implementations, SIEM Configurations, Azure and VHOST Migrations, Server Upgrades, Core Infrastructure Deployments [firewall, switches, WAPs], Apple, and M365 Projects)
- Assist and/or lead project scope creation for custom project requests
- Serve as an escalation point for junior engineers and client team leadership when applicable
- Aid in the creation and submission of standard operating procedures in relation to standardizing project and service delivery.
- Identifies risks, performs root cause analysis to problems, and implements corrective actions.
- Works in coordination with Leadership to mitigate risks where appropriate.
- Lead Sophos technologies including firewalls and host-based security software (AV, Anti-Ransomware & Encryption Tools).
- Lead M365 Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams deployments for new clients
- Utilize Remote Monitoring Tools such as Kaseya, Jamf, Nagios, and Pingdom
- Utilize Backup products such as Datto Backupify, Datto BDR, and Veeam.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field preferred; and
- Four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Requires experience building and managing VMware vSphere 5.5 and 6.x clusters, and virtual machines
- Experience with Cloud Technologies such as M365, Azure
- Hands-on experience designing, installing, configuring and administering Microsoft Active Directory Services (Windows 2012R2, Windows 2016, Windows 2019, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Windows Clustering)
- Proficient with PowerShell scripting
- Strong understanding of physical and virtual network technologies, methodologies and concepts (vLAN tagging and Port Groups)
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable personal vehicle
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range for this position is $130,000.00 per year. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location. Employees are eligible to enroll in medical, vision, dental, flexible spending, employee assistance program, group and voluntary life and disability insurance and 401(k) retirement plan.
