Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional patient care and support within our clinic. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, along with excellent communication skills to assist patients effectively. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth clinic operations while enhancing the patient experience.

Duties

  • Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready.
  • Conduct preliminary tests and gather patient history, including vision and medical records.
  • Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow within the clinic.
  • Process insurance claims and handle medical coding as required.
  • Provide support in sales of eyewear products, including frames and lenses, while educating patients on their options.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Eyefinity
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while providing excellent customer service.
  • Previous experience with medical coding and handling medical records is advantageous.
  • Sales experience, particularly in a healthcare or retail setting, is beneficial but not required.
