General Description
Dr. Brown's is a leading manufacturer of infant feeding products, is undergoing a critical transformation to increase efficiency and meet continued growth in sales demand. We are seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer with a passion for streamlining processes and developing improved manufacturing systems and integrating automation. You will play an integral role in modernizing and expanding our assembly processes.
Responsibilities
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and work effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Quality, Engineering) to ensure smooth operation and efficient problem-solving
- Continuously evaluate the performance of manufacturing processes, material flow, and material handling systems, to identify opportunities for further optimization, automation, fine-tuning, waste minimization, and adherence to annual performance targets
- Analyze existing assembly lines, to identify bottlenecks, inefficient processes, safety concerns, and areas for automation implementation. Develop a comprehensive automation roadmap in collaboration with the Engineering, Production, and Quality teams
- Lead the development and implementation of process improvements, new manufacturing processes, and equipment including the procurement process for equipment, vendor selection, and project budget & timeline management
- Participate in the development and maintenance of technical documentation (e.g., work instructions, standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance procedures)
- Train assemblers and maintenance personnel on new equipment and procedures
- Facilitate a smooth transition and adoption of new manufacturing processes and automation within the production environment
- Leverage production data to track key metrics (e.g., cycle times, throughput, downtime) and quantify the impact of process changes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, ideally with a focus on automation in an assembly environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including quality control principles and techniques
- Strong knowledge of automation technologies (robotics, PLCs, sensors, vision systems, etc.)
- Experience with process analysis, optimization, and equipment design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results within budget constraints
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production operators, maintenance technicians, and management
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing automation systems and component
- Experience in the consumer goods or packaging industry
- Experience working with robotics integrators
- Experience in transition projects: successfully led similar projects in the past, with a proven track record of implementing efficiency improvements.
- Understanding of your specific industry: While the core principles of efficiency apply generally, understanding the particular challenges and opportunities in your industry can be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for vendor visits, training, and conferences.
