Position Summary
The GBCHC Dental Coordinator supports GBCHC in the mission of providing free dental care, medical care, and medications to uninsured Michiganders by ensuring smooth daily function of the dental program at the Dr. Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate the day-to-day execution of dental activities
- Ensure facilities are clean, prepped, functioning and properly stocked for upcoming clinical activities.
- Provide guidance and assistance to staff and volunteers as the tasks and day requires.
- Collaborate with Dental Director, Volunteer Manager, and Dental Receptionist to sustain the dental schedule, maximize community dental health impact and ensure appropriate engagement of licensed and pre-professional volunteers.
- Identify and capture patient stories and testimonials.
- Foster a cohesive team environment among staff and volunteers.
- Work with case coordinator to help patients access outside resources.
- Perform administrative duties (Schedule follow up appointments, Close, Set, and Complete Notes, Order Dental Supplies, etc.).
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Min Competencies and Requirements
- Certification as Dental assistant or the equivalent combination of education and work experience in the field.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of chairside assisting experience.
- X-ray certification.
- Experienced Dentrix or equivalent software user.
- Knowledge of dental instruments.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (strongly preferred).
- Dedication to delivering excellent customer service.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including active listening.
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively.
- Experience working with individuals of diverse experience and backgrounds.
- Pass a background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
