What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Clerk position at Dr John Warner Hospital?
Patient Access Clerk:
Part time (Monday – Friday, varying days/hours)
Performs various administrative functions, such as reception and clerical work. Responsible for greeting incoming patients, completing necessary paperwork, and entering demographic and insurance information. Arranges for efficient and orderly admissions of inpatients, as well as pre-registration for outpatient procedures. Maintains accurate records of payments, balances cash drawer and completes daily deposits. Must be able to work well in stressful situations, handle criticism and be able to multi-task, as well as follow instructions and take orders from multiple people. Good communication skills, ability to work professionally with colleagues and function independently. Position will require approximately 30 hours per week during initial training period, and 12-16 hours per week thereafter.
Expected pay for this position is $18.31 - $22.24 per hour. Actual rate will be determined by multiple factors, including experience, skills, and internal equity. This is an hourly non-exempt position.
Qualifications/Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- Typing skills and computer experience, including use of standard office equipment (copier, calculator, cash register, fax, scanner, etc)
- Previous experience in a hospital setting or emergency room clerical experience helpful
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Must be able to sit and walk for long periods of time. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
