Job Overview
We are seeking a Part-time dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician/Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. Our assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining hygiene and safety in our office. This position requires a strong understanding of sterilization processes, infection control protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
Duties
- Perform sterilization of dental instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and maintain cleanliness in all areas of the practice.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes, including maintaining logs for equipment use and sterilization cycles.
- Assist dental staff in preparing treatment areas and ensuring all necessary instruments are sterile and ready for use.
- Stay informed about current best practices in sterilization techniques and infection control measures.
- Patient care support: Escorting patients to treatment rooms, preparing them for procedures, and assisting dentists and hygienists during treatments.
- Treatment room preparation: Cleaning and setting up treatment rooms for scheduled procedures.
- Administrative tasks: Recording treatment information on patient charts, assisting with scheduling, and performing other clerical duties as needed.
- Safety compliance: Maintaining OSHA/WISHA standards, following HIPAA guidelines, and managing biohazardous waste disposal
Experience
- Previous experience in a dental or medical setting is preferred, with knowledge of vital signs, four-handed dentistry, and dental assisting being beneficial.
- Familiarity with software such as Dentrix is advantageous.
- Understanding of medical terminology, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, X-Ray procedures, and HIPAA regulations is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are essential for success in this role.
