Opticians are the heartbeat of our optical and you are a key member of our eye care team. Your role is to educate patients and help them see the best they can, all while looking great in their new glasses.

Due to growth, we are looking for an optician seeking a long-term role. Madeira Optical is an independent, community-based and busy group Optometry practice with an amazing patient base that supports our mission.

At Madeira Optical you get to recommend the best optical products. The vast majority of our patients select premium AR, freeform lenses and quality eyewear. If you are well versed in our eyewear and lens treatments and you are comfortable recommending multiple options to meet patient needs, your informative recommendations will turn into happy patients and a well earned monthly commission.

Do you like to learn new things? If you are a newer optician, we have amazing licensed opticians that can help you refine your craft. We will help you get licensed. Knowing/learning the ins and outs of optics, lenses and lens treatments is important to helping our patients see their best. You will learn manual lensometer and other skills that corporate opticals don't typically have time for.

If you are coming from a commercial practice, we will help you learn our products and how to bill vision plans.

We see a lot of families and kids in our relaxed and professional office. We have great optical hours with no late nights and we close at 2:30 on Friday and Saturday. We are not open on Sunday. Oh, and we aren't in the mall.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting eyewear and provide expert advice on lens options.
• Perform vision tests and assess patients' optical needs.
• Maintain accurate medical records and manage inventory of optical products.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Stay updated on optical technology and trends to enhance customer service.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Strong retail sales experience
• Knowledge of physiology and anatomy
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding
• Ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams
• Experience in optical settings

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $22- $24 per hour plus monthly commission

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
