TITLE: Family Academic Support and Engagement Leader
LOCATION: King Elementary (position may be shared)
Reports to: The Director of Family Engagement and Student Support and the Building Administrator
Job Summary: The Family Academic Support and Engagement/FASE Leader has one major goal: to support student achievement by engaging and involving families in strategic ways. The role of each FASE leader (a certified staff member who works at the school level) is to help support and implement the components of their school’s Continuous School Improvement Plan:
- Work with the Building Team to build communication and remove cultural or linguistic barriers that could impede families and school staff members from working together.
- Work with the Building Team Team to connect families and schools by facilitating and organizing family events that engage families in the learning process.
Essential Functions:
- Attend Building Team Meetings to support the integration of family engagement into the school’s goals.
- Lead the following interactive family-student workshops during the designated months:
- September: Curriculum Night
- November: Family Reading Night
- February/March: Social Emotional Learning Night
- May: Math and Science Night to teach families and students (together) about how to support learning standards for the designated theme, curriculum related to the designated theme, and the Continuous School Improvement Plan goals at home.
- Collaborate with the building principal and Building Team to enhance the home-school partnership according to the Continuous School Improvement Plan.
- Attend Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Organization meetings at the beginning of the school year to establish a collaborative partnership with families, and, as needed during the school year to provide families with strategies to advocate for their children.
Qualifications:
- Illinois Elementary Teaching Certificate
- A current employee with Urbana School District #116
- Knowledge about instructional practices, curriculum, and assessment
- Current Urbana School District #116 Employee
Preferred:
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Experience coordinating events/activities
- Classroom teacher
Terms of Employment:

- Requires at least a one-year commitment for the 2025-2026 school year.
- $1000 total (may be split between two certified staff to have a kindergarten-second grade focus and a third-fifth grade focus)
- This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
- This is an exempt position.

EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on support staff
